Ann Curry
Ann Curry has worked as an journalist for over nearly 45 years. She focuses her reporting on natural disasters as well as conflict zones. Curry's father was a naval officer with the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. Following World War II, her parents met while her father was serving in Japan. Because of her father's military service the family moved quite a bit. Curry attended High School in Ashland Oregon. After graduating from University of Oregon, Curry received a bachelor degree in journalism degree in the year 1978. It's possible that her encounter with cultures and experiences have influenced her empathetic approach to how she speaks about global concerns. Curry's family relocated often, so Curry didn't stay at one school longer than 2 year. Curry attended various schools including San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia as well as Virginia. Then, she graduated from Ashland High School. She paved her way for a successful career when she began her career in broadcasting as a student intern at KTVL Channel 10 in Medford Oregon, eventually becoming the first news reporter female in the station's history at the aged of just 22. She subsequently moved to the position of an anchor and reporter at KGW which was an NBC station in Portland, Oregan. Then, four years later she moved in Los Angeles and became a reporter at KCBS TV. In the course of the six years she worked for KCBS She was honored with 2 Emmy Awards.
